Ben Giroux and the cast of Phoenix Theatre's production of Neil Simon's Rumors. The production took place in downtown Phoenix, Arizona during the summer of 2002. Giroux was later awarded The Best Comedic Actor of The Year Award by Max McQueen, Arizona's renowned theatre critic.

Want to see a star being born? Rush to "Rumors" at Phoenix College to see Ben Giroux. We'd heard rumors that this East Valley young man is as funny as all get out. It's true. Giroux is the best homegrown comedic actor we've seen in 20 years, since Bob Sorensen's bow. It's easy to be great in well-crafted roles in well-written plays. But Neil Simon offers neither to Giroux in "Rumors," the playwright's nod to "Noises Off," Michael Frayne's British madcap comedy. Giroux is one-eighth of an ensemble of four Long Island couples gathered for a 10th anniversary party.

With the wild-eyed intensity of Al Pacino, the razor-sharp timing of Groucho Marx, and the manic energy of Robin Williams, Giroux seizes his money-mad accountant and turns him into a human pitbull. We're suprized director David Chorley doesn't have him on a leash. It's up to Giroux to make sense of the evenings outrageous proceedings. And so Giroux takes a deep breath, dives in, and with lightening speed runs through the whole bloody mess with a split-second delivery that would leave a tobacco auctioneer green with envy. He left Friday's playgoers double checking the name of the human hurricane that took their breath away. It's Ben Giroux. Remember it. Giroux has all the makings of major show business talent. That's no lie.

...At halftime, Celtics captain Paul Pierce suited up and, accompanied by forward Ryan Gomes, got into the TV act by saying a few words - and belly-bumping the faux Lucky, played by Ben Giroux. The actor stands around 5 feet, 2 inches, so it was rather amusing. During the game, Giroux was nearly called for a technical when he spent a little too much time hamming it up on the court during one of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ third-quarter time-outs.

...A group of talented youngsters who are filled with boundless energy. Ben Giroux plays the emotional accountant Lenny with an over-the-top bravado that is the source of many a funny moment. I recommend your supporting this show while enjoying a showcase of future Phoenix comedians.

...Ben Giroux's company President J.B. Biggley and his steno pool hot-patootie Hedy (Beth Reynolds) are side-splitting. Utilizing both his short stature and her curves, Mr. Harper is able to add a slew of sight gags that are priceless. Mr. Giroux is also a gifted comedian, and his timing is phenomenal, while Ms. Reynolds uses her lithe legs to dance men into a stupor. The remainder of the ensemble is uniformly excellent.
